Located in the district of Mbouda, department of Bamboutos, the Bamesso heritage case offers an approach to the theme of funerals in Bamileke country, a ritual firmly rooted in the traditions of the Grassfields peoples. Here, the exhibition immerses the visitor in the different rites that accompany the loss of a loved one in order to grant him the status of ancestor. The exhibition also presents the symbolism of the objects used and the dances performed during the funeral. Much more than a cultural and festive event, this museum demonstrates the spiritual and traditional significance of funerals.
