la route des chefferies du Cameroun – Du visible à l’invisible
30000 CFA
« Sur la route des chefferies du Cameroun. Du visible à l’invisible » consecrates the art of the communities established on the high plateaus of the Grassfields, in the west of Cameroon. Monumental architecture, forge, beaded creations, wood carving, textile production, traditional dances… Nearly 300 works, preciously guarded for centuries by traditional chiefs, custodians of tangible and intangible heritage, are displayed here in an unprecedented perspective by the association La Route des Chiefdoms. This book, richly illustrated with documentary photographs, presents the objects within the chiefdoms themselves. Through the writings of Cameroonian heritage specialists, the stories of chiefs and queens, the creations of artists, it testifies to this living art, to this evolving process between sacred and profane, drawing on the dynamism of tradition to project us to the future.
