The heritage huts are community museums that are located within the chiefdoms of the Grassfields. Living museums, the objects are brought out on the occasion of certain ceremonies and rituals, objects with a clear symbolic charge, supporting the identity of the group or the chiefdom. Each heritage hut deals with and develops its own theme, defined according to the inventory of objects in the chiefdom, its history or its characteristics, and is built in direct collaboration with the traditional chief of the place. The heritage huts play an educational role, transmitting and promoting customs, beliefs and ancestral values.
